Before: Senior engineer on the routing service.
After: Tech lead for four engineers on the routing service; ran design reviews and the quarterly roadmap.
Why: Tech lead is the closest true thing to what they are asking for. It is not the same as managing, and the note should not pretend it is.
What it could not fix
- They ask for two years of direct reports. You have none, and that is the whole gap.
- The honest move is a note to the hiring manager about the tech lead work, not an application that overstates it.
Gaps are shown rather than papered over. The assistant rewrites how something is said; it does not invent something you did not do.
